U.S. Teens Suffer from Influx of Immigrant Laborers
The influx of immigrant laborers into the U.S. over the past decades has hurt American teenagers' job prospects: Every 10% increase in the number of employed immigrants with no more than a high school diploma reduces native teens' annual number of hours worked by around 3%, according to Christopher L. Smith of the Federal Reserve. The number of immigrant laborers in the U.S. increased by more than 130% between 1980 and 2009.
