Rich Parents Withhold Asset Details from Kids
Two-thirds of wealthy parents withhold at least some details about family assets from their children, and 15% disclose nothing at all, according to U.S. Trust's survey of about 450 Americans with $3 million or more of investable assets, excluding primary residences. The reasons include fears that the children will become lazy, squander money, or be taken advantage of. 17% of parents in the survey believe their children won't be able to handle family money.
