Consequence of compulsive internet use

Compulsive Web Use Hurts Marriages, but Frequent Webbing Helps Marriages
While compulsive internet use erodes marital relationships, frequent internet use is weakly associated with an increase in spousal passion, according to a study led by Peter Kerkhof of VU University Amsterdam that questioned 190 newlywed Dutch couples. People who can't stop using the internet and feel irritated when they're not online show decreased marital intimacy over time, but those who use the web frequently in a noncompulsive way report somewhat greater passion toward their partners, perhaps because couples are using the internet together, the researchers say. 41% of men say they sometimes or often use the internet despite their intention to stop, compared with 24% of women.
