| Chinese Enrollment Soars in U.S. Colleges |
| 56,976 undergraduates from China were enrolled in American colleges and universities in the 2010-2011 school year, a more than fivefold increase from 9,955 just three years earlier, according to a report cited by former U.S. education secretary William J. Bennett. China exports more of its students to the U.S. than to any other country. Although Chinese students value a U.S. secondary education, China's children are better educated than their American counterparts in science and technology. Bennett says high expectations are the norm in China, not the exception. |
