| When You Call in Sick, Beware the Suspicious Boss |
| 17% of employers say they've fired workers who gave fake excuses for staying home, according to a Harris Interactive survey for CareerBuilder. 29% of managers have checked up on an employee to verify that an illness is legitimate, usually by requiring a doctor's note. 18% have asked coworkers to call a suspected faker on the phone, and 14% have driven by an employee's home. |
