Children Are Affected by Parents' Entrepreneurial Attempts
Offspring between the ages of 18 and 21 are the most strongly affected by their parents' success or failure as entrepreneurs, according to Edward Mungai, dean of Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, Kenya, and S. Ramakrishna Velamuri of the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai. Young adults who witness a parent's entrepreneurial success are more likely to try self-employment themselves, but a parental failure witnessed at that time discourages entrepreneurism.
